` NOTES: Got this scene in my head when I was watching the Variety Show. It's short but I'm proud.

Dance of Death

A deafening echo of chimes sounded through the field and the low lights on stage came back on. Apparently there was one more act. Someone was standing on the left of the stage with the primitive dress of leaf covered pants and ribbons hanging from the wrists. They had a mask on with long flowing hair and wild eyes. They stood still a moment as another person appeared on the other side, dressed in the same fashion except a skirt and shirt instead of pants. One hand danced gracefully around, the ribbon trailing behind and creating an enchanting sound. In the other hand she held a small crystal radiating a faint blue light. There was a hush over the crowd. No one had been expecting this, but no one was going to stop it.

The man on the other side slowly raised his arms and seemed to pull two drumsticks out of thin air. He braced his feet and spun one in his hand, getting a good grip. Then he swung it forward and stopped quick in front of his body. A loud bang rang out like he had just hit a big bass drum. He pulled back and hit the air with the other stick. Another deep sound echoed. He did it again and again, slightly faster each time.

The girl making the melody with the ribbon was starting to slow. She focused her attention on the object in her hand. Every time the man hit the air the light would pulse, getting slightly stronger. Turning to him, she swung her free arm around, taking greater control of the ribbon tied to her wrist, and snapped her hand out. The music stopped for a moment as the material followed and the sound of a whip cracking made the audience jump. The man stumbled back as if he had been hit, though the maiden was not nearly close enough to touch him.

Satisfied, she went back to making her soft sweet music. The guy seemed to debate for a moment, looking back and forth from the girl to the exit, then raised his arms and hit the air with both drum sticks. The crowd could almost see the air shudder as it hit. The invisible force threw the girl off and she faltered, but the crystal grew brighter.

She stared at it until it went back to its original glow, then her mask changed to one of anger. Play time was over. Her hand started waving back and forth, the soft music changing to a hard, loud harmony. She cracked the ribbon at the man as he sent more shock waves at her. They got faster and stronger until they swung out at the same time. The two air forces hit each other creating a momentary whirlpool in the middle of the stage then exploding out, sending both attackers flying back, and the crystal into the air.

Both recovered quickly and looked up in alarm as the treasure started to descend. The girl reached out an arm, as if calling the gem to her. It stopped in mid drop, but when she tried pulling it back it didn’t move. The man was also holding his hand out.

That was it. The maiden leaped and lashed out at her rival. He met her challenge and the two began a deadly dance of arms and feet flying at each other. The war drums were pounding, the music seeming to come from no where and every where at the same time. The crystal never moved from its spot in the air while below the warriors battled for the prize. And the more they fought, the brighter it shown. Blue light extending out, becoming blinding. The music got louder, the kicks and punches got faster. The crystal grew and grew until the last note when it exploded out like a bomb. And when their eyes finally cleared, the stage was empty.
